- Candidates must have, or be eligible for, an Idaho Secondary Certification in Natural Sciences or be considered “highly qualified” to teach 7thand 8thgrade sciences in the state of Idaho. Because the curriculum rotates every other year, candidates must be qualified to teach life, physical and earth sciences.
- Individuals considered for this position must possess a passion for, and knowledge of, working with junior high students by creating and implementing project, problem and/or inquiry-based instruction aligned with standards and outcome-based, performance assessments. This includes providing active and rigorous experiences for all students in an inclusive environment.
- Candidates considered for this position must feel comfortable teaching writing through the science content (position papers, persuasive essays, etc.)
- Individuals applying for this position must believe in collaboration beyond the content area, and must feel comfortable with individual as well as group decision making. Candidates need to be aware there are expectations that exist outside of the regular school day (camping trips, JH events that include an Exhibition evening, Candlelight Luncheon, etc.).
